Renewal: It's Time For Me To Take A Short Break

After the long, snowy winter we endured here in the Northeast, the feel of warm sun on my face and the sight of flowers beginning to show off their vibrant colors is a welcome relief. It's the perfect time for me to take a breather; a short break from writing.

I need some time to power down and appreciate what's all around me. When my son told me I'm on my computer more than anyone he knows I knew I needed to take a break. After all, I don't want to live a parallel life to Joaquin Phoenix in the movie "Her." Falling in love with my operating system is not an option.

The year 2015 has been filled with many challenges for us and I need a chance to breathe. Like the budding flowers in our garden I, too, want a chance to feel renewed.

When I return I'll continue writing to enlighten, educate and empower you. Writing is what I love to do, and using my words to make a difference in someone's life is one of my greatest joys.

I'd like to share this last quote with you because I fell in love with it. It has a powerful message for all of us. Remember to always take care of yourself first and everything else will fall into place.

Learn to love yourself for who you are and the value you add to the world.

  1. Godspeed to you, my friend. You are wise to take time to recharge. We get so caught up in our routines that sometimes we do forget to smell the beautiful spring flowers. We will miss you but you deserve this break! xo

  2. We should all be taking a break, especially now that summer is just around the corner. You are an inspiration to so many of us who are tethered to their computers and social media. Who knows, maybe you're starting a new movement!

  5. Oh Cathy, I completely understand your need for some space from writing. You are such a prolific writer and have put out an enormous amount of content, all very inspiring and uplifting. I hope you enjoy your hiatus from all that writing and come back when you are ready. Enjoy the fresh flowers and blooming and gorgeous surroundings (not that you didn't always enjoy it...you, the lover of nature...) and get some much needed rest.

    It's funny - I'm kind of at the opposite end of the spectrum these days (sort of). I've taken a long break from steady writing. I barely blog these days and I kind of miss it. I used to blog weekly and now I'm lucky if I get a post out once a month or even less frequently. There are days that I just use my iphone and don't turn on my laptop.

    So there must be a happy medium. Anyway, enough philosophizing. I applaud you in all your endeavors and activism and I'll miss your steady writing...but I know it's a good choice for you.

  6. A little break is always a good. In fact, I think we take them without even realizing. Our gardens, children, grandchildren, friends, books just seem to fill the day. I often don't actually take a break...I just move the blog down that list a bit and the rest seems to work itself out.

  7. Good for you, Cathy. Spring is a time of renewal, affording yourself the space to reclaim personal time is so important. So cheers to spending time with the people you love and refueling yourself in a way that will leave you feeling replenished. Enjoy!

  10. Cathy, I'm so computer unsavy! I posted this whole comment and lost it! Basically it was all accolades to you! I too, feel about Springtime as you do. When I worked in the city, I referred to it as the bees came out of their beehives. Everything and everyplace, were filled with people. It truly was exhilarating! Your blog has had a tremendous impact on me. At this time I would like to say, " thank you". Most importantly, take time for you and enjoy!
